Individual Child Grants for Sport

News Image

At the Almaguin Minor Softball Association (AMSA), we believe that every child should have the opportunity to play, regardless of financial circumstances. Participation in sports like softball helps youth build confidence, develop skills, and stay active in a positive team environment—but we understand that registration fees and equipment costs can be a barrier for some families.

The good news is that there are trusted funding programs available to help families access minor sports across our region.

The Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities program is one of the most widely used financial assistance options in Canada.

Jumpstart provides funding to help cover the costs of:

  • Sport registration fees
  • Equipment
  • Programs and camps

Eligible families can apply for Individual Child Grants, which are designed for children ages 4–18 participating in organized sport or physical activity programs. Funding is based on financial need using federal low-income guidelines and is paid directly to the sport organization.
