At the Almaguin Minor Softball Association, we believe every child should have the opportunity to play, regardless of their family’s financial circumstances. Participating in sports such as softball helps young people build confidence, develop skills, stay active, and become part of a positive team environment.

The AMSA works hard to keep registration fees as affordable as possible through community sponsorships, fundraising, donations, and volunteer support. However, the association cannot provide the program entirely free of charge because of the significant costs involved in purchasing and replacing equipment, maintaining insurance, paying operating expenses, and delivering a safe and organized softball program.

We understand that even reduced registration fees and equipment costs can create barriers for some families. The good news is that trusted funding programs are available to help families access minor sports throughout our region.

Avery Seca Youth in Sports Foundation

The Avery Seca Youth in Sports Foundation is a local charity serving the Almaguin and Parry Sound districts, making it especially relevant for AMSA families.

The foundation focuses on:

• Assisting youth with registration costs
• Supporting the purchase of sports equipment
• Helping athletes pursue opportunities at higher levels of sport

Its mission is to help underprivileged youth access sporting opportunities within our local communities.

Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities

Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities is one of the most widely used financial-assistance programs for youth sports in Canada.

Jumpstart may provide funding to help cover:

• Sport registration fees
• Equipment
• Programs and camps

Eligible families can apply for Individual Child Grants for children between the ages of 4 and 18 who are participating in organized sports or physical-activity programs. Funding is based on financial need using federal low-income guidelines and is generally paid directly to the sport organization.

Jumpstart has helped millions of Canadian children access sports and continues to support inclusive participation in communities across the country.

Jays Care First Pitch Fund

The Jays Care First Pitch Fund helps reduce financial barriers for children participating in registered baseball and softball programs. Eligible families may receive up to $350 per child to help cover or offset registration fees.

The fund is available to children aged 18 and younger across Canada and focuses on helping families experiencing financial or personal barriers. Applications are administered by Their Opportunity, and approved funding is paid directly to the participating baseball or softball organization.

Families are encouraged to register their child with their chosen league before applying, as funding does not guarantee that space will be available in the program.
