The Almaguin Minor Softball Association officially opened its 2026 season with three exciting home openers across the region, bringing players, families, coaches, volunteers, and fans back to the ball field for another summer of community softball.
The first game of the season took place on May 20, 2026, at the SSJ Arena Ball Field in Sundridge, where the Sundridge Sluggers hosted the Perry Roughnecks. Both teams came ready to play, giving fans a hard-fought and competitive season opener. The Sluggers came out on top with an 11-5 win, but the Roughnecks battled throughout the game and helped set a strong tone for the season ahead.
The following night, on May 21, 2026, the Kearney Koyotes held their season and home opener against the Magnetawan Bears. The Bears’ bats came alive as they earned a 17-7 victory over the Koyotes. Despite the final score, the game showed plenty of energy, teamwork, and determination from both sides, with players gaining valuable early-season experience.
The final season and home opener was played in Sprucedale, where the Sprucedale Steamrollers hosted the Burk’s Falls Boltz. In another spirited matchup, the Steamrollers picked up a 13-7 win over the Boltz, closing out the opening round of games for the association.
The opening games marked an exciting start for the Almaguin Minor Softball Association, which continues to provide local youth with the opportunity to learn the game, build confidence, develop teamwork, and represent their communities on the field.
AMSA extends its appreciation to the coaches, parents, volunteers, umpires, sponsors, municipalities, and community supporters who help make the season possible. With the first games now in the books, players and fans can look forward to a full season of softball, sportsmanship, and community pride across Almaguin.
